George Samuel Schuyler, one of the great black journalists of the 20th century, and a conservative by the way, had this to say:

"The truth is that the American Negro is an amalgam of Caucasian, Amerindian and African, there being but 20 per cent "pure," and those are the only ones entitled to the term Negro when used as a descriptive adjective. Geographically, we are neither Ethiopians or Africans, but Americans. Culturally, we are Anglo-Saxons."

He must have written that early in the 20th century; there is little Anglo-Saxon culture left in the black community today.

Back when the term WASP was current to describe the dominant culture, Walter Williams said that American Negroes are culturally BASPS- Black Anglo Saxon Protestants.
