Now that I’ve had time to think about it, I would have preferred he had said, “At this point in time, there is no case nor any charges to recuse myself from. I will revisit this if that ever changes.”

The problem is that he cannot confirm or deny that any investigation is underway. What he did was to recuse himself from any decisions in the future as to the direction of those investigations. He washed his hands.

That being said no one has even identified a crime that could possibly be pinned on any member of Trump's administration or his campaign. At this point all you have are baseless allegations that some as yet unidentifiable crime may have been committed somewhere by someone.

At this point I think I can say with confidence that there is no investigation because there is no crime.

What we are witnessing is a classic example of a political witch hunt.
