San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s agents informed all 32 teams yesterday that the 29-year-old quarterback will opt out of his contract, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Kaepernick can't officially exercise the opt-out clause until March 2. He has to do it between March 2 and March 7. That prevents the 49ers from franchise tagging him.

Played a year and a half of inspired football, then fell off a cliff. His fatuous attempts at political protest got him some notoriety, but did nothing to improve his game. I have to wonder if he’ll get another NFL job.

You’re probably right, but what team will take the publicity hit to sign him? The Redskins, Browns maybe? Whoever signs him takes a huge hit hit publicity wise

They don’t need an injury plagued quarterback on his way out. Not downing Romo, but injury prone is what it is. I hope the guy leaves with his health
