>> to pass a compromise immigration reform bill
Anticipating a bill that will displease many from both sides. But the best bill we’ll see in our lifetime will likely be one from President Trump.
My guess:
- Dreamers stay
- Long-timers stay
- Criminals deported - zero tolerance
- Some type of temporary work visas for the remainder.
- no undocumented, no freeloaders, workers are taxed.
- strict felonies for employers gaming the system.
- ID. Every illegal is required to register; they will be assigned some kind of special gov't ID; 3 month grace - caught without ID, immediate expulsion never to return
Wall - duh
Sanctuary - No cities, states, campuses, etc - all agree to fully participate with feds
14A - clarified to disallow anchor babies
No ID, no work - must be regularized to pay into system so as not to rip-off social programs
Concessions:
- Everyone assigned ID after background check with affidavit from employer(s) in good stead are allowed to remain (but no path to citizenship); - Children already born here are citizens - Dreamers - path
The end result is that nothing changes accept for legal processes. Ends future anchors, enforces border, begins assimilation of those already here. Makes illegals taxpayers unable to game system via cash/under table wages. Pulls off long GOP strategy of making Mexicans republican voters.
Alternative - deportation fights with every state & local authorities, Congressional push back, judicial blocks, horrible optics.
Is identity theft a crime? If so, any illegal who used fake credentials to get on an American payroll is a criminal. That makes any legislation complicated, if nothing else.
Of course, if the illegal just made up a Social Security card with a number that has not been already assigned legitimately, maybe that is not identity theft? Just misrepresentation of the truth,.....
