Google-owned robotics firm and nightmare factory Boston Dynamics has released video of its latest creation: a two-wheeled, four-legged hybrid robot named Handle.
The robot can stand on four legs, like Boston Dynamics previous creations such as BigDog and Spot. But at the end of its back two legs are two stabilised wheels, which let it stand up vertically and roll around at speeds of up to nine miles per hour. Think Terminator riding on a hoverboard and youll have a pretty good idea of the impression Handle gives off.
Boston Dynamics says the reason for the hybrid design is the simplicity it affords: rather than needing the complex joints of the fully-quadrupedal bots, Handles wheels can speed it around with little difficulty, while its front legs can be used for balance and for carrying loads of up to 50kg.
Handle uses many of the same dynamics, balance and mobile manipulation principles found in the quadruped and biped robots we build, Boston Dynamics said, but with only about 10 actuated joints, it is significantly less complex. Wheels are efficient on flat surfaces while legs can go almost anywhere: by combining wheels and legs, Handle can have the best of both worlds. The video does not, however, show Handle walking rather that scooting around on its wheels.

I’ve never actually seen the movie, only a few scenes.
Movie?
Fargo.
Fargo. With William H Macy and his wife, whatever her name is. She was a NoDak Tooper and was after a guy who killed people and used a wood chipper to hide the bodies. Like I said: Dark movie.
Your media mail package is in Greensboro this morning, so with luck, it will be at your door tomorrow. :o])
You have embraced the spirit and The Spirit!
Good morning, NoC!
Note: my puter plays tricks on me. It eliminates text of its own volition and if I don’t edit every post, it leaves things out and the material lacks a certain continuity. It deleted the part after putting half a frozen banana in the blender, you also add a few chunks of frozen cantaloupe and you have a very nice smoothie. We had a bumper crop of cantaloupes last summer so I processed and froze the blemished ones and gave away the nice ones to friends and neighbors. (They were both hugh and delicious!)

I was just scrolling through “Latest Posts” and came across this post, knowing nothing about the thread.
I thought you were saying that putting half a frozen banana in the blender was causing deletions. That took me my surprise,to say the least. :-)

Today's service was great! We have a whizzbangwhoppadoozie pastor who doesn't deliver a sermon without including at least one tool to include in your spiritual toolbox. Have a great Sunday, regards to all, and hug fuzzballs for me. :)
Oh, you didn't know that? They're working on a fix for it as we speak.
Do you have insomnia? You sound like fun!
Lucky for you, you happened upon the Undead Thread! It’s Undead because it’s been in existence since 2004, when jj_fate got well and truly paved to the end of the Internet, which was 65,650+ posts. After that, we’ve moved threads to suitable troll efforts, but the trolls are being weeded out before we can take over their screed and give it a life of its own. We try not to go over 5,000 posts, now...
You’re more than welcome to join us, if you wish! And you can be added to our extremely low-ping lists, as well. We do try diligently to stay away from religion and politics, as there are other threads for those topics.
So, once again, welcome!

Here you go the real life Robot that looks just like the movie.

I find food service to be a low-stress, high-reward activity. Little attentions, “I’ll bring some cookies to this table. Oh, I see you’re drinking the white wine; I’ll go get a bottle,” make people so happy.
I admit, I faded out a little during the sermon. I have to concentrate if I’m going to understand Spanish, and I drifted.
We learned that the Other Guy in our Spanish music program has an opportunity to play at another church, in exchange for free tuition for this children at their school. It’s a great deal for his family, of course, but leaves the rest of us with more shifts.
Once I have the report for-realsies confirmed by the deacon, we’ll plan to ask more members of the congregation to step up and help. I know there are people who can play guitar or piano or something, and sing. We just have to offer help and build people’s confidence.
What a loozer he was ! Moose droppings be upon him!
I had the last of the salad (no chicken on it, drat) and the last of the wine, and maybe tomorrow, I’ll see if I have enough to get more chicken, salad stuff (including dressing) and wine, so I can try and drop this unwanted “illness fat,” (thanks to pneumonia.)
While Charlie and I were visiting, we met the guy who just moved into the apartment that Chuck lived in. I invited him to join us in the future, but I don’t know if he will. Still, I had to ask. I mean, we’re all neighbors. I kinda felt that Charlie had reservations (?) but I won’t know unless Roy comes to sit with us.
Having worked at a café when my son was small, I know what it is to serve people. However, I’m sure there is no real comparison!
LOL! Hiya, Delta! How are things with you?
I’m sure Moosie wouldn’t have agreed with your assessment of what to do with jj_fate! LOL!
But, you have to agree, we did pave the “fates-ter” in fine style!
(FYI: The silver seems to have helped a lot, but I’ll have to go back to my original dosage to try and get over this relapse. Thanks again!)
Sure, add me to your list-——sounds like fun.
