Trump hit a nerve with his campaign and none of the establishment folks like it. He appealed to voters because he’s not like all of them. Sure, he’s a bit arrogant and crass, but if he weren’t he would have never held up through the primaries and campaign.

I think you really nailed it there. Trump's New York City bluster and his rough & tumble style allowed him to survive a campaign that would have devastated just about anybody else.

Look back to how quickly they got Ross Perot to throw in the towel. That 1992 election was Perot's to lose. People were hungry even back then for a populist outsider and like Trump, Perot had the ability to self-fund. Perot even had some of Trump's toughness and brash style. But eventually the media onslaught got to him and he suffered what appeared to me to be a nervous breakdown. Remember how when he dropped out he said that it was because Bush was out to ruin his daughter's wedding? It got really weird. He did jump back into the race and ran again in 1996 but he was never the same man again.

A man like Donald Trump comes around once in a lifetime. Many of us are turned off by his arrogance and crassness as well as his penchant to turn every slight into a major battle. Don't confuse that with being thin-skinned however. The man fights and never backs down. When the Hollywood Access tape came out, I thought there was no way he could survive that. But he did and by the end of that terrible weekend when even his closest supporters were jumping ship or close to it, he was right back on offense like nothing happened.

I hope Trump's Administration is a smashing success and that he literally changes the way the American people look at their elected officials. Because if he crashes and burns, the people will go back to electing regular politicians, the establishment will say "I told you so" and we'll never elect an outsider as president again for at least another 100 years. If we even survive as a nation that long.

I remember that. I went to one of his rallies in Denver and it was massive. He had so much support. And then they made him look like a lunatic.

But Trump, unlike any other president in recent memory, is a New York City street fighter.

And I think the world—especially Putin—knows it.

Let’s keep praying for him!

You said so many great things in that post.

You are right. I thought that it was over when that tape came out.

What was that movie? The Unsinkable Molly Brown? That’s what our president reminds me of.
