When I learned how much we were borrowing from the Chinese to finance Iraq and Afghanistan (didn’t know about all the “nation building” at the time) I knew the country was in big trouble financially. Seems like this was the 2005 time-frame. It was just a few years later than it really manifested.

Rush was losing sponsors and was between a rock and a hard place. He could not continue defending his attack on “Ms.” Fluke because the American people turned in her favor!

Losing sponsors and losing listeners are two different things.

Long story short, Trump had the nad to ride it out to demonstrate that difference, and Rush did not.

I never got taken in by Jorge Arbusto because I remembered what happened with his father. Most people talk about breaking the no new taxes pledge but for me the turning point was when he hung Jack Kemp out to dry on the earmarking issue. An obscure episode that most people don’t know or care about but Kemp was doing the right thing and Bush let Congress lynch him for it.
