wow... i didn’t even get a chance to watch it... i like Kathryn Heigl, Elliott Gould and Dule’ Hill (Psyche)... and i actually liked Laverne Cox in Orange is the New Black... it wouldn’t matter anyway... i don’t have time to follow a weekly show... i haven’t even been able to keep up with my favorite show this season: Top Chef... oh well...

I thought OITNB treated the issue of transgenderism pretty fairly, particularly Sophia Burset's transition and the devastation this caused to his family. I recall watching Sophia's "backstory" episode and thinking as a husband and father myself, "Why are you being so selfish? Why are you doing this to your wife and son?"
I was surprised that Hollywood actually articulated the selfishness and damage that transitioning does to one's family. I was even more surprised to discover this very dramatic and effective episode was directed by Jody Foster.
Interesting bit of trivia; the scenes of pre-transitioning Sophia are played by Cox's twin brother.
