My Father lived for the Trump Campaign those 18 months till the election. He prayed to God to let him live long enough to vote and put Trump into office. My Father saw all of that. After the election he started downhill and had lost his will to live, he died December 29th at 4:30 in the morning. He was 93, he had a good run and did most everything he wanted to do including seeing Trump elected President. He and I had a lot of fun those 18 months.
I understand how you feel. Terribly sorry for your loss.
Of course like my Father, your Father lived through so many things, the Depression, WWII, The Korean War, the Space Age, an endless number of events.
I still remember my Parents amazement when the Apollo Mission landed on the Moon. My Brother and I looked at them and said, it's about time, what took them so long? They didn't think it was ever going to be a possibility. LOL
Simply amazing when you think about it.
My Father was blessed with good health throughout his Life. He survived serving in the South Pacific in WWII, 60 Years of Alcoholism gaining his Sobriety at age 79 and being diagnosed with Lymphoma at age 82 and achieving Remission from the Disease after only one round of Chemotherapy.
He had to have emergency Surgery for a twisted Bowel and came out of it with flying colors. Unfortunately, he suffered a Heart Attack while in Recovery. In a matter of hours he was gone. I figured he would live to be 100.
I am happy that you were able to spend those last 18 Months sharing a common bond with your Father. You probably ended up knowing more about his in that time than you knew your entire Life.
I have found Photos, notes and Letters in my Father's mementos that showed me a side of him and my Late Mother that I never knew. At age 63, it was an eye opener for me.
God Bless my FRiend.
