Right after 9/11 I had some brief e-mail correspondence with Alan. Never agreed with his politics but he seemed like a decent and charitable individual. I complimented him on (usually) making his arguments from a logical perspective (even if I thought he was wrong) and his being careful not to generalize and paint all conservatives with a broad brush. So, RIP to a worthy political opponent.

Nice post.

I agree. It’s why I wanted Bernie as our opponent though we may well have lost, so it was good to was Hillary. I just didn’t think a dishonest, murderous crook was fit to run. Bernie and Alan believed their politics and weren’t trying to use it to gain personal wealth sex and power. I still believe in the debate of political ideas, our side would always win if people could see both truths.

Alan was an honest and fair political opponent. RIP.
