Been there, done that. Houston, Texas has hurricanes, yearly floods, tornados, high temps and high humidity in summer, freezes in winter, mosquitoes, and fire ants. You cannot beat Cal weather.

My BIL used to go to Houston on business (worked for one of the oil companies here in CA). Definitely was not a fan of the weather there. Said Austin and the surrounding areas were more "comfortable" weather wise, although many conservative Texans would tell you to avoid Austin, if at all possible.

Several small twisters came through night before last west of Austin and to Houston. Local news guy said 84 mph winds.

Do NOT even consider uber liberal Austin. Houston has wackadoodle Sheila Jackson Lee. A bunch of muslims were dumped in Dallas. San Antonio, Austin, Houston, Dallas and El Paso are sanctuary cities.
