‘Milo shot himself’. Couldn’t agree more. As to whether he will now go liberal.. I doubt it. Regardless of his orientation, he still appears to be conservative in views on free speech and other matters of the Constitution, as well as fiscal policies and border control. Also, I doubt the left would take him, after his contribution to the loss of Hillary.
Who knows, he may survive this and rise again, in another form.. a writer or pundit.
Note: When a person makes a living talking, a lot of words are put out there and if you are being hunted, it won’t be long before some of those words are used as weapons against the speaker.

Keep in mind that they took David Brock, a man very similar to Milo, and I don't mean only their sexual preference. If you need a reminder of whom I'm speaking of, see the article. That was a pretty huge hit on a Clinton, too. And he ended up working for them.
