Oh, gravity is very much at work. Fecal matter obeys gravitational imperatives, or more simply put, sh*t rolls downhill.
I do not envy Rex Tillerson for the job that lies ahead. Hercules had the task of cleaning out the Augean Stables, in which for every fork full of waste that was thrown out, two more flew in the window. Finally, by re-routing the flow of the rivers Alpheus and Peneus, to wash out the filth, the accumulation was at last flushed away.
Maybe today there would be environmental concerns for some folks, but those are swept away right along with all the other litter.
