No, they’re the rump USSR in exile. Mother Russia has veered right, so they’re now in full screech neo-McCarthyite mode. They’ve been screaming about fascists ever since their buddy Hitler turned on them in WWII, despite being fine with their ideological soulmates before then. Socialists and their internal squabbles, it always gets nasty. Trouble is, they have no other context with which to view opposition. To a hammer, everything looks like a nail. To a Soviet, opposition looks like a fascist.

Exactly. And contrast it with the media people who lost their jobs for mentioning that Hillary may have had a seizure. On camera she had at least 5 myoclonic seizures and no one ever wondered in media if she was fit. Riiiight, it was an attack of the flu, over within an hour.
