I know people make fun of them a lot, but you might want to check out one of those "Life Alert" type devices. My mother-in-law had one come in very handy when she had a fall.

I have one but left it in Mississippi. People came out to "assist" me, but I sent them away after the one guy helped me to my feet. I didn't want anyone helping me upstairs into my house. All the men around here are all too helpful if you get my drift, particularly the ones around my age. That's why I permitted one of the younger ones to help me to my feet.
