Sen. Rand Paul (Ky.) ripped fellow Republican Sen. John McCain (Ariz.) on Sunday after McCain criticized President Trumps escalating war of words with the media.
He argued that the nation is very lucky that Trump is president and not McCain, who won the 2008 GOP nomination but lost to Barack Obama in the general election.
Paul said that McCains recent criticisms of Trump are driven by his personal dispute with the president over foreign policy.
He added that McCain and Trump are at odds because McCain supports the wide deployment of U.S. troops to protect and promote American interests abroad while he characterized Trumps views as closer to a realpolitik approach to foreign policy. Everything that he says about the president is colored by his own personal dispute hes got running with President Trump, and it should be taken with a grain of salt, because John McCains the guy whos advocated for war everywhere, Paul said on ABCs This Week.
He would bankrupt the nation. Were very lucky John McCains not in charge, because I think wed be in perpetual war, Paul added.
McCain in an interview with NBCs Meet the Press warned that the suppression of a free press can lead to a dictatorial regime. He made the comments after Trump tweeted on Friday that the media is the enemy of the American people.
McCain has also harshly criticized Trumps expressed respect for Russian President Vladimir Putin and his suggestion earlier this month that the United States does not have the moral authority to criticize Russias human rights record.
Paul said there has no effort by the Trump administration to suppress the media, noting that no legislation has been offered to curb press freedoms.
Paul argued that McCain has a history of being wrong major foreign policy questions.
I would say John McCains been wrong on just about everything over the last four decades. He advocated for the Iraq War, which I think destabilized the Middle East, he said.
If you look at the map, theres probably at least six different countries where John McCain has advocated for us having boots on the ground, he added.
One of the more disturbing things I've read today because it's true. Just how awful a President would this yo-yo have been? He'd have had a Democrat congress, too. (Shudders).

“Rand Paul: Were very lucky John McCains not in charge.”
Amen.
True. Back then, many of us had no understanding or knowledge of the Global Uniparty Elites. We voted the best we could with what we knew at the time.
Now, it is like the veil has been lifted. The workings of evil are more clear to us. I suspect much more will be exposed in the near future.
Rand Paul is the best man in the Senate.
Thank you Lord for keeping McCain from being our president!
He is an evil/vile man and a crazy one, who hates our Military and America.
Never thought that I would agree with a statement like yours above.
However, we may have dodged the end of America with McAinal as POTUS!
You forgot
We must defeat Trump. He is the greatest threat we face
We must start a war with Russia over fake news
I still think McCain is massively tied to the weapons companies because he is always on the side of the maximum arms sales.
Unfortunately, we thought that last time
This bought & paid for SOB will keep being a useful idiot as long as Soros & handlers want
Rand Paul is saying some very logical and necessary things here lately. I think he is among the GOP who has gotten over the warfare of the last campaign, and is ready to move on with energy and wisdom.
John McCain IS hooked on the idea of active war as the panacea for all the country’s concerns. NO. We have been actively at war for far too long. In fact, the sooner we leave Afghanistan and stay gone, the better.
I believe in defending our country, but sometimes war really is not the answer, especially, when it’s already been tried for over 15 years. For now, lets focus on guarding our borders.
John McCain's mother is still alive.
The neo Libertarians I know on Facebook are as about as Anit Trump as they get....
The Libertarian party has drifting to what could be called Neo libertarian ...crazy left anarchist thinking... Glen Beck going wacko mirrored his claimed “Libertarian” progress.
Old school Paleo Libertarian. = Natural (God given) law protect us from government oppressive laws
Neo Libertarian. = Government is to provide what I want protect you from consequences of your actions portect you from natural law reason logic (No God he oppresses you..atheist)... anarchists that expected there whims on the moment to be satisfied.......
Example neo Libertarianism is Gay marriage, and the invented gender of the month flavors the government is to force you to accommodating.and confess the politically correct truth of being real....2+2=5....
Government protecting you from natural Law vs Natural law protecting you from government law
2008 was the worst choices ever!
Sarah Palin almost dragged McCain’s dead ass across the finish line, but he managed to undercut her in the nick of time for George Soros...
My promised article concerning McCain and the USS Forrestal(CV-59) Fire
The difference is that allegedly conservative R’s in Congress use an R administration as cover for increasing size and scope of govt. At least there is some push back with a president like O. If we had elected McCain or Romney we would have had more gun control, amnesty, war...and an even larger fedgov. For me the only principled vote was third party in each of those cases.
John McCain’s actions are a prime example of bought and paid for by the global elitists. Same goes for Lindsey Graham.
Just watch.......Trump, Cruz, and Paul will be best friends in about one year.
