Heres what a lot of people dont grasp about Donald Trump. That includes professional observers, in and out of DC. Trump brings a storm with him wherever he goes. Its noisy, flashy, and fierce. It looks chaotic. But at the eye of the storm is Donald Trump, knowing what he wants to accomplish and where he and his storm are heading.
Its easy to brand Trump a disruptor. But thats lazy. Trump most certainly disrupts, but its not without cause. He just doesnt blow through the countryside leaving huge messes in his wake. Simply put, Trump unmakes to remake to his advantage.
Trumps presidential campaign, from his announcement in 2015, through pell-mell primaries and caucuses; through dustups with guys named Jeb, Ted, and Marco among others; through campaign shakeups; through verbal fisticuffs with Megyn Kelly and the mainstream media; through the day-in and day-out toe-to-toe slugfest with Hillary at the end of the raging storm that was Trumps run for the presidency was, finally, victory. Goal achieved. Andy Jacksons portrait hangs in the Oval Office and the Churchill bust is back.
DC is full of day-traders. The city -- the politics and governance happening within -- is the market. The day-traders lack perspective, broader context. Each and every fluctuation in the market is treated as if fortunes are won or lost in that instant. DC is also an industry town, and like all industry towns, the denizens are process and personality obsessed.
Retired Vice Admiral Robert Harward turned down Trumps offer to be national security advisor, replacing Mike Flynn. Why, that has to be a vote of no confidence in the president and evidence of dysfunction in the White House.

President Trump’s crowds never set fires to the flag or to buildings and cars. They never threw barriers through plate glass windows. They never sprayed Trump protesters with pepper spray. They never blocked freeways so that ambulances couldn’t get to hospitals. Who are the real political terrorists “destroying the Constitution?”
Damn the torpedoes! Full speed ahead!
I don’t like the “storm” reference because Nazis use it. It’s throwing gasoline on liberal news media embers.
And the place probably looks tidier after the rally than it did before.
HUGE difference!!!
Mmmm....”Storming to Success” - that has a nice ring to it.
And very apropos.
I like the rope-a-dope tactic (for lack of a better term) that Trump uses very effectively. Everyone knew why he won - his agenda. But to prevent the usual GOPers from covertly fighting against him, he keeps BOLDLY reminding everyone that Congress listened to the people and is diligently working on _________, _________ & _________, while he’s writing executive orders that will fulfill the agenda.
Reminding everyone that Congress is working tirelessly to fulfill his agenda, while signing their praises makes it impossible for the rats in the GOP to undermine him in any effective manner. He’s got them in a headlock.
Trump has done the same thing with the corrupt media. He’s gone Broadway and has shouted from the rooftops about the biased and unfair coverage, of which Americans agree!
Trump says he is a counter-puncher. He is. I get that. He waits until the other side “authorizes” him to kick their ass. Sort of the way polite high school boys have to do a little pushing and shoving before a knockout punch can be thrown. It is a good workable strategy for a lifetime of conflict ridden encounters. But, it doesn’t take into account the true evil of the left. They are the despicable little pricks who would try to hit you over the head with a bottle while you are taking your jacket off.
I predict he will adapt.
The lords prayer given by melania in Florida yesterday made the blood letting on the lib side go to a fine mist. love it he knows how to get to them
And they don't prompt their students to throw 2x4s or other objects at democrat presidents' motorcades....
Trump is a loser, just like the Cubs. The Chicago Bears lost 56 games in the last six years of the Obama Administration—but the Cubs lost 58 games in just one year!
America is indeed at a historic 'fork in the road.' In the coming years it's citizens will decide whether liberty is worth fighting for, and worth the constant vigilance it demands. If not, our republican ideals of self-government will fade, and the professional political class, the administrative state, will prevail.
We will have surrendered the liberty and self-determination owned by free men, for the purported comfort, predictability and safety promised by those who believe in their superiority over us.
President Trump is the first modern American president to genuinely engage in this battle. And it is a battle, and we are at war, with the enemies of freedom. We musn't be foolish enough to assume victory. So much lies ahead.
