Were he still in Afghanistan he would probably not be “queer” because man-boy love is normal for most Afghani. It is how you get release where there is no access to women until your family makes a deal to get you married and the honchos and rich guys take up all the women, 3 or 4 at a time. It goes, of course, back in part to the Greeks who owned that real estate two thousand plus years ago and the estimation of females as of a lower order of creature, mere labor and breeding stock. Real love is only possible between equals and that leaves out women. Sex between a physically adult male and a prepubescent boy is not regarded as homosexual. It is an attitude that suffuses all Arab and Arabized Moslem populations but in the others it is not so overt as it is in Afghanistan.
