Private contractors at the Oroville Dam have had to fire some of their workforce because of issues ranging from positive drug tests to violating the state's Department of Water Resources' social media policy.
There has also been turnover because of unqualified workers.
Private contractors hired to work on the dam have to vet their own employees, according to DWR spokesman Chris Orrock, who noted that no state employees have been let go because of these reasons.
Crews are being brought in as needed, as space is tight, DWR Acting Director Bill Croyle said.

Riiiiiiiight. Because state employees NEVER do drugs or violate social media policy.
Or could it be because it is almost impossible to fire a state employee?

An article that easily could not have been written.

I read this story in our local Oroville paper, buried in another story. I wondered why this even warranted a mention...The social media angle did catch my eye as I have seen reports of issues going on with the dam that TPTB might not want to highlight.
Strange story indeed.

Did you hear about the privately owned helicopter company out of Yuba City that was replaced by a Union outfit?
After a couple of days of outrage generated by social media, it was brought back.

My very first reaction, too. We are led to believe all those state employees are angels? Right.

Can't have the truth leaking out. The dam can leak all it wants, but the people, never!

Awe, isn’t that a cute little term.
Thou shalt not hunt in the King’s forest.
Thou shalt not opine about the state of his royal waterworks; Or anything else related to his kinglyness - lest thine employment be expired.

Yes, dams and spillways that are defective do not vote Democrat....illegal aliens do. That is where so much of California’s money goes. Building power and control through malfeasant spending on the Democrat welfare state.

The Director retired about 6 months ago. I don’t know why Croyle is still considered “Acting” Director.

Private contractors hired to work on dams? Hmmm, does
that mean that there is a State Dept of Dam Repair that COULD
be doing the work? Why, the next thing you know they’ll
be telling us that private contractors build and repair
freeways even though we have CalTrans!

Kalifornia drug testing is mandatory for equipment operators not do-nothing state office workers.

We could have a State Dam Department,
but then again, all the State Departments are Dam Departments.
