AUSTIN - Put the NBA on the growing list of sports organizations warning Texas over its proposed transgender bathroom bill.
In a statement to the Houston Chronicle last week, Spokesman Mike Bass said the NBA weighs a number of factors before choosing where to hold major events, including how fans and athletes will be treated.
"We consider a wide range of factors when making decisions about host locations for league-wide events like the All-Star Game foremost among them is ensuring the environment where those who participate and attend are treated fairly and equally," Bass said.
The NBA has come out against anti-LGBT bills in the past, moving Sunday's NBA All-Star Game from Charlotte to New Orleans after lawmakers in North Carolina passed their own version of the transgender bathroom bill into law. Texas isn't scheduled to host any major NBA events in the near future, but Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban supported the decision to move the All-Star game and even offered up the Big D as an alternative. . .

Anybody know when they are voting on this? the sooner the better. the longer they wait the more of this crap is going
to happen.
Texas should tell these organizations to take their teams and pound sand. We don’t needs sports teams that attack our right to observe moral standards that this nation has observed ever since its founding.
The Texas legislation allows renters of facilities to ignore the law and allow people into whatever bathroom they want to use.
The Republicans are giving sports and entertainment interests exemptions to the law emphasizing how it will protect children in schools.
The TX Republicans abortion law the other year went so far as to say anyone suing over the 20 week abortion ban if they were impacted by it would be exempted from the law.
The Republicans are showing off to conservative social issue voters with their loophole bathroom law and the sports teams are showing off their opposition to it.
The courts will no doubt rule against Texas after the law is passed anyway.
Not wasting my emotions on this, sad situation with the jackboots of the judiciary having the final say. I’m resigned to that.
I hope someday we will get past having our emotions manipulated by showboating politicians.
We need a movement beyond politics to resist evil.
Trump does his part by showing up and talking, taking executive actions.
At a grassroots level, defiance and disobedience to the ruling elites with more Trump’s being elected and more people needing to stand up to say NO to them is needed.
It easy to say, harder to live one’s life that way.
Ammon Bundy in Oregon last year was much more of a hero when he non violently resisted and his colleague LaVoy Finicum was gunned down by the authorities.
No violence from the protestors side in the Oregon Standoff, only the government side firing shots.
So basically, the NBA and NFL insist that adult men can go into the bathroom with little girls....maybe Sessions should start looking into these people.
Liberals started this whole mess.
The liberals in Charlotte NC passed a local ordinance allowing transwhat peoples to go in any restroom regardless of their biological sex. The state of NC passed a law to override and restore the status quo.
For passing a law which merely restored the status quo, the liberals went into meltdown mode.
The liberals picked this fight over transgender bathroom access. Then when there’s a reaction, the liberals act like, the conservatives decided on their own, for bigoted hateful reasons, to impose restroom restrictions.
And the media and liberals overstate how this is a return to Jim Crow and other such horse blank. Sports leagues such as the NBA pull major events from NC in protest, to bend over backward to prove they are liberal.
The liberals upset the status quo, then when there’s a reaction to their instigation, then they claim the reaction is somehow an unwarranted bigoted response.
Actually, they’ve already thrown in with the mentally ill - at least in NJ.
It is time to shut down the leagues- to quit paying for their SJWing. When the guy selling you ice cream is visibly inserting poison into his offerings, sensible people will quit buying the ice cream. For too many Americans finding out for sure that every football game watched will snip one month off his lifespan or give him cancer in two years will cause him to think about it for a second, maybe two, and then grimace just a little and watch the games.
Mavs owner Mark Cuban is a soros buttboy. He would support the nba threatening his team and fellow Texans over the trannies.
Oh noes! The NBA all Star game. How will Texas survive?
The perversion is strong in these spoiled adult children.
I DEMAND that both the NBA & the NFL change ALL the restrooms of ALL their stadiums & venues to being open to both males & females (according to the customers’ wishes and desires). Do this NOW or STFU!

Reason #347,865 to back away from these antichrist organizations. Hell-bent, literally, on destroying what was once normal in America and the world.
So if they don't like the rules, move to another State that does...
Right now in Utah the Sportsmans Association is having a fit over ‘Bears Ears’ National Park because of what Barky did, mind you Utah is fighting this but they came out and said to our Governor that after 20 years of being here, they will be looking else where...well good bye, have a nice trip and don't come back...
Time to start up the AFL again.
Seems like my TV time keeps shrinking
I like watching classic old movies / DVD’s (though my DVD collection shrunk considerably).
At Christmas, I enjoyed Scrooge - original and George C. Scott version. There are reruns of X-Files, etc. Good luck.
Let’s warn the NFL and NBA.
Disney should get NBA and NFL games at a deep deep deep discount very soon.
Is the NBA still a going concern? Had no idea.
They can take the Mavs away from Dallas, they suck anyway.
