Today is marked as A Day Without Immigrants. This movement has been engendered in response to President Trumps steps to halt illegal immigration and entry from countries known for dangerous, anti-American ways of life and citizens who wish do harm the people of this great nation. A Day Without Immigrants is designed to show Americans what the country would be like without immigrants. Construction companies, restaurants, and other businesses with lots of immigrant workers are either closing down or donating todays earnings to nonprofits that aid Latino communities.

I’ll pick my damned lettuce myself.
I guess the black thing sort of hits home for me for family reasons.
My sister-in-law’s adopted sister is black, with two kids. She had a long term job as a hotel maid. It allowed her to be home with her kids after school and she did a great job.
Then, the cleaning companies came in that hired illegal Mexicans and the hotel hired this company. They subcontracted the whole maids thing out and laid off all the maids that had been working there.
That way, they didn’t have to pay any taxes, social security or benefits. The sub contractor was supposedly paying all that.
But of course he wasn’t. He just had a revolving door of poor Mexican chicks he showed up with every day that got the job done for less, and that was all the hotel cared about.
But these women were a drain on the system in general since they all had kids and were eligible for welfare, food stamps, housing assistance and the such like.
And it pushed the adopted sister temporarily back on to assistance.
She’s working at Publix now. Makes less money, has no benefits and had to pay the fee for not having health insurance. But it sure made her open her eyes towards the harm that Obama was doing.
A day without illegal immigrants might be countered by “a lifetime without spending at a business that supports illegal immigrants”. I guess some people forget that some things can go both ways. One might follow the business closures and see if those businesses participated.
No immigration documentation? Then they are an illegal alien. Someone entering your home without your permission is a burglar, not a boarder with a tenancy agreement.
