Reports are surfacing about a potential national strike by immigrants this weekthe latest in a growing movement to highlight the role immigrants play in the face of Donald Trumps increasingly harsh crackdown.
According to Washingtonian magazine, a number of local restaurants and other businesses have begun bracing for a national strike on February 16, in which immigrantsparticularly those from Latinx communitieshave been urged to stay home from work. The grassroots protest has seemingly been organized by word of mouth and across Latinx social media channels.
One of our delivery men whos Latino told our kitchen about it, and then it started spreading from there, Rose Previte, owner of DCs Compass Rose restaurant, told Washingtonian. In the kitchen, all but the chef and one line cook are immigrants and asked if they could participate. My staff was like, We feel this is something we have to do. They felt really strongly about it. I was like, Okay, absolutely.

A day without immigrants would really be appreciated here. Like you, I say, up it to 5 years and then we’ll go from there.
How about a year without immigrants?
Somehow I think I can:
Mow my own lawn
Do without the Carniceria
Live without Chorizo
I don’t eat goat and never have
etc.
Heck, how about just life in general witout immigrants especially illegal alien ones?
Think 2006 we had day withough Mexican and it was wonderful without them
No Spanish. No unruly children. No
Scowling hate the gringo faces. No trucks blasting Mexican music in the parking lots.
A day without illegals? So they’re threatening us with what we want?
This tends to support the belief that the banana countries are off-loading their mental defectives on us.
A day withoiut immigrants would mean we could leave our garage door up and take the padlock off our chicken coop.
Ouch! Hollywood, Silicon Valley, K Street and Hamptons folks will suffer terribly.
Will onky be missed by illegal Mexican aliens. Citizens will enjoy the reduction in unsafe and uninsured vehicles on the roads tomorrow.

That’s about 30% in my area ,, they pay nothing and I pay double because of them.
So, the illegal restaurant workers will stay home tomorrow — and thus, not get paid. Meanwhile, people who would have otherwise patronized their restaurants will either stay home (thus saving money), or go eat somewhere else (and thus supply legal Americans with an income-producing job).
I’m really having a hard time seeing a downside to this.
The media in Charlotte, NC is playing it up, too.
I’ve given up eating at Mexican restaurants. It’s not a boycott exactly. I’ve just lost an appetite for all things Mexican. But I’d still like a list of businesses participating in this, so I’ll know who to actively boycott.
