I grew up in a home with two parents who smoked like chimneys.Mom died at 52 of lung cancer...Dad spent the last 20 years of his life slowly dying of smoking related lung disease.

Although I grew up with a haze of cigarette smoke in the house I've never smoked.I can easily accept that "second hand smoke" is harmless. However,I'm seriously offended by the smell of cigarette smoke so I support smoking bans in public places.

I don’t know if I agree with the right of the government to institute smoking bans or not, but I sure do appreciate the lack of smoke. Let’s face it....smoking stinks. And it does cause cancer, strokes, circulatory disease, and COPD. I’ve never smoked, but my husband did for decades. He finally quit, with God’s help, and doesn’t miss it. I know it can be extremely difficult to stop. Most smokers will tell you they wish they’d never picked up the habit, even those who truly love to smoke. And some smokers are quite militant about their right to smoke. But I don’t know anybody who thinks smoking is a good habit. Even those who enjoy smoking.
