If I remember the details correctly, air on planes was circulated every six minutes when smoking was allowed. When smoking was banned, the air was circulated every twelve minutes. Probably healthier, but an unintended consequence.
The Long Island Rail Road used to have smoking cars. They made sure the air conditioning worked on those cars. Passengers sometimes had to choose between inhaling cool, smoky air or hot, non-smoky air. I don’t miss the Iron Snail.
