The Nazis actually landed on the DE coast in WW2. They holed up in an abandoned fishing shack and left their initials and went back.

Lots of German subs and American ships sunk along the DE coast in WW2.

Many German POWS worked in the menhaden fish processing plants in Lewes,DE during WW2.

They liked the area so much that they stayed on after the war and brought their families here.
