US Customs and Border Protection officers seized nearly two tons of marijuana packed in phony limes near the Texas-Mexico border last week, according to authorities.

The 3,947 pounds of weed came through a commercial shipment of key limes in Pharr, Texas, on Jan. 30, officials said.

The truck hauling the "produce" crossed the Pharr-Reynosa International Bridge along the Texas-Mexico border near the Gulf of Mexico. Over 34,000 of the fake fruit packages were discovered by an imaging inspection system and narcotics K-9 team.

I’m in agreement with you. It would be like trying to smuggle in Budweiser

You got out of Miami? I’m stuck in Hollywood. What was your escape route? Did you flee at night? How much did you pay the smuggler? Where exactly is the border? Should I bring the flags when I flee?

You got out of Miami?.

I was born and raised in Miami.
Got more and more dissatisfied with life there. My only escape was our sailboat. Used to sail around Key Largo primarily.
Anyway, in 1982 a friend was getting married in Raleigh and we went to the wedding .
Fell in love with the area and we moved in 1984. Had lined up a job before we moved and away we went.

There are a few things I miss. Key limes, good Fla avocados, good mangoes and sailing the Keys
We finally got Publix stores here and that was a big plus for me. .

We went down to the Delray area about 5 yrs ago. Drove around some in the Hollywood, Lauderdale area.
I was shocked at how much it has grown.
Heck, I remember when US441 was the edge of the boonies. Beyond it was Everglades.

Grew up in Hollywood. Loved it in the 1960's. You could go out to the beach where Johnson State Park now exists. Drive down a dirt road all the way to the jetties at Port Everglades. Swim out to the first reef and 'mop' a bunch of spiny lobsters, build a fire on the beach, and have a party. Little trivia, the submarine nets that protected the Port in WWII were still laying on the bottom near the jetties.

Got out of Florida almost 50 years ago and swore the only way I would go back is if the plane carrying my dead ass had to stop for fuel on the way to somewhere else.

Born and raised in Hialeah. Moved to Hollywood in 88. Live out by the college. Wasn’t bad until after hurricane Andrew. Now we got houses all the way to US 27.
