I've been saying this same thing for years. (Mainly about anti-gunners, but it's applicable to all leftists).

You cannot reason with them (because their position isn't based on reason). You cannot compromise with them (because they have nothing to offer, and every to them concession is just "a good first step.") They don't feel remorse, pity, fear or empathy for our desires to live in freedom because as the article says they hate us and they feel empowered to do whatever they want.

They consider us blasphemers who should be enslaved (via taxes) or put to death. It can only end three ways.

1. The win and we're disarmed, totally shut up and enslaved.
2. We're killed by their ATF/local police/FBI/etc. goons while "resisting arrest"
3. We utterly destroy them and render them powerless

Trump's election was a "good first step" to number three. They know it and will not accept it. They are taking advantage of the fact that we're law abiding and they aren't, but if pushed hard enough we'll fight back. Can you imagine a group of "protesters" going after comeone with a concealed carry license? It would get real ugly real fast. with all of the (surviving) thugs swearing that they were attacked without any provocation, and of course the local prosecutors would mostly go along with it.
