I observed this many years ago with certain leftist in-laws, their "truth" being whatever advances their agenda today.
I learned that the left's definition of tolerance is a certain grace period they will afford the unbelievers.
They give you time to repent and conform, "graciously" showing you the true way. If that doesn't work, they become more insistent. Then if you *still* refuse to be enlightened, no matter how polite and respectful you are to them, then, well... its FU, out come the knives.
They sleep at night knowing that they offered so much grace and opportunity, but alas, you refused it.
Freaky. Best I could manage was to avoid them like the plague, but still... ugh. Bad souls. There's no love, no peace in their hearts. No such thing as live and let live. It's all one big power trip.

Yes, one must look beyond the single verse that talks about a sword. The scripture is clear about this and Jesus rebukes Peter when Peter cuts off Malthus's ear.
Matthew 26:52 But Jesus said to him, “Put your sword in its place, for all who take the sword will perish by the sword.
Luke 22:49 When those around Him saw what was going to happen, they said to Him, “Lord, shall we strike with the sword?” 50 And one of them struck the servant of the high priest and cut off his right ear. 51 But Jesus answered and said, “Permit even this.” And He touched his ear and healed him.
Luke 22:52 adds to this theme.
The point is that we are fighting a spiritual war. The war is "not against flesh and blood" (other people), but against the "power and principalities" of the air, or spiritual forces. One cannot win a spiritual war with physical weapons.
Two swords are hardly enough to defeat the Romans. The "sword of the Spirit" of Ephesians 6 is however.

So you are admitting you have no clear way of allowing for the obvious meaning of Luke 22:36 in your interpretation?
It seems painfully obvious to me you are conflating what Jesus was telling his disciples to do in preparation to “switch gears” in light of his coming absence from them with the circumstances leading to that absence.
So you are left with a simple choice, admit your interpretation is flawed, or ignore an inconvenient verse of Holy Scripture.
There will always be isolated violent incidents perpetrated by highly motivated individuals but there’s very little chance that they will initiate organized nationwide CW2 without first having total control of the federal government. Their vision of how CW2 is started, fought and won requires it to be this way. IMHO.
So, the war we need to be primarily focused on winning is the political war because if they manage to acquire the kind of power that we now possess, you can be sure, we will know no peace.

Maybe. I don’t think they have the balls to start an organized nationwide CW2 without having control of the federal government first though. They don’t want to have to participate in the fighting and dying. They had a plan. That plan was shattered on November 8th. They seem to have a new plan now which amounts to regaining power so they fall back to their original plan.
They don't need "balls." Ask yourself how a woman would kill you....
