The Constitution has been effectively suspended for the last 8 years and much of it has been a dead letter and increasingly so since FDR. It cannot be resuscitated by Constitutional means. It is probably actually dead and gone. The generation now beginning to take on the responsibilities of the society is totally devoid of historical and most other education. Most of them cannot even make sense out of the Constitution if they can read it in the first place. It truly is Us and Them now and in another generation Us will be a tiny minority of mostly imprisoned or otherwise sequestered individuals if we continue trying to work in the forms of the Democracy we knew half a century ago. A man like Trump may be able to gain us a hiatus by shrinking back the structures of encagement that have been growing so rapidly. I don't think he can kill them without effectively taking dictatorial power. If he is so shrewd as he appears to be then he quite possibly can but will he? The Executive Branch is now pretty much all powerful. Congress has given up its powers to the Executive, to the Bureaucracy for most of them and to the President for the rest, and cannot take them back. The most important contest is primarily between the two parts of the Executive Branch. Trump must get control of the Agencies
and abolish them if he is to change the direction of the nation for longer than 4 or 8 years. < P>The direction of the Society depends on eliminating the the teachers' unions and the entire Federal entanglement with education, disbanding the teachers' colleges and repealing all laws in the states that hinder home schooling. We probably cannot get the Republic back for the same reason that Israel cannot make peace with the "Palestinians" i.e. the Palies have educated several generations to hate and desire the death of all Jews. You cannot reverse that in one generation. There are no trained teachers other than the ones that are a major agent for the problem and no quick way to train more.
Whatever Trump can do in Washington, even to the destruction of the Agencies, is probably futile in the long run. The mass of the coming generations is fit only for serfdom and cannot understand any other system.
