Yes. It's called virtue signalling.

Lord, not another social-behavior term. I'm having trouble keeping them all straight. OOPS! Can't say "straight"; might offend the homosexuals or the crooked!

So if I do something good, kind and charitable I'm guilty of virtue signaling, or risk being accused of same?

You may well be correct about this individual's motivation; I have no way of knowing. I'm only commenting on the concept .

It's not that what he did was kind and charitable, it was the fact that he went out of his way to adopt a foreign child from an alien culture and another race.

He did this to have an insurance policy against charges of RACISM! from Democrats.

Don't believe me? He posts pics of himself and his black adopted daughter on Twitter with captions like "Hey Democrats! Still think I'm racist?!?!" Do a Google image search.

For a more extreme example, do a Google image search for Tim Huelskamp.

That clown was a NeverTrumper and a total weirdo. He lost his re-election in November thank goodness.

The mainstream "conservative" movement is just as obsessed with race as the Left, but the opposite. They have a sick fetish of proving they're not racist.

Yet another reason why "conservatism" has conserved nothing.
