“Crimea was annexed by Russia in 1783. Not a part of Russia before then.”

You know what I meant. It was part of Russia for a very long time. I used slight hyperbole (like Trump) to make my point that Kruschev gave it away to the Ukraine in the very recent past. It was NOT part of the Ukraine. I wasn’t talking about pre-Russia that has no pertinence to today’s Russia/Ukraine issues.

In 1992, the Crimean legislature voted for independence from Ukraine. Ukraine of course rejected the idea. Russians are a minority population in Crimea. Maybe independence is not a bad idea.
