There are LOTS of feral hogs running around causing significant damage - they are considered an “invasive species” in some states. You can’t sell feral hog meat legally, but you can hunt them & make some mighty tasty hams, sausage & yes, even bacon for yourself. The only issue with feral hogs for bacon is that they are pretty lean & don’t have a lot of belly fat - sources I’ve read say you need about a 300 lb wild hog for bacon.

Precautions apply when handling wild meat - wear gloves, properly care for the meat & cook thoroughly.

In Arizona we have wild Javelina. My house in Payson is on Javelina Rd. Some of my friends hunt them and eat the bacon and ribs.

When we were buying the house we were standing outside in the back yard with the realtor. Three javelina’s came around from the other side of the house and wandered off into the forest behind the house. I turned to the realtor and told him “If the house had been on grizzly road, the deal would be OFF!”
