Federal prosecutors are weighing bringing child-pornography charges against former congressman Anthony Weiner over sexually explicit exchanges he allegedly had with a 15-year-old girl, according to people familiar with the matter.
In recent weeks, according to some of the people familiar with the matter, attorneys for Mr. Weiner have had discussions with federal prosecutors in Manhattan in hopes of dissuading them from bringing charges, or at least from bringing the most serious one: production of child pornography, which carries a 15-year mandatory minimum prison sentence upon conviction.

Thanks, Lucy.
A combination of both,I would say.
Ping.
You know that this was not his first rodeo.
Sing Weiner. Id gladly go easy on you to get Podesta or Clinton.
Interesting they waited until the new President.
Weiner is a hardened criminal.
If he is put on trial, it will be long and drawn out.
The climax of the trial will be the judges sentence: a gallows should be erected for him, so he can be hung.
If he is not executed, then we can only hope the pen is where he will be forced to do hard time.
He just has to tell tales of the Clintons to skate.
Hope they do not negotiate a “deal” if they have the goods on him. Keep investigating all the way to the Clintons and their sick ways. Take down the house.
Alas! They would have been a dream team (for jokes on freep).
Alas! Holder-Handler and Handler-Holder just don’t have the same sex appeal. Is there anyone with the surname Johnson we could substitute? Or how about first name Peter?
15 is too old for good child porn charges. Did the photographer who took nudy pics of Hannah Montanna serve any time?
“The climax of the trial will be the judges sentence: a gallows should be erected for him, so he can be hung.”
Afterwards, interest in the story may sag and drip.
Well, that’s beside the point, since I don’t think Weiner ever took any pictures of the 15 year old. I guess it’s possible she may have sent him some and there could be charges from that, but I never heard anything like that.
The whole “child pornography” stuff was about the picture Weiner took of himself, and his son, when both of them were clothed. A judge would throw that case right out if any prosecutor tried to bring it to trial.
Quite right. But we don’t know what else is on that hard drive. We also don’t know how explicit the picture of the 15 year old is. There is some sort of law against possessing child porn, but if it doesn’t make Dr. Zaeus make angry monkey noises, it doesn’t play in Peoria. So far it’s unimpressive looking, but the NYPD is probably saving the real goods for a grand jury, and to scare Weenie into implicating others.
Would you or I, be so heavily weighed?
After serving his sentence and being paroled, news of his release dribbled out.
to have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his days
