I read more about this and he remains in his permanent position as deputy director, he was replaced as acting director.

Ragsdale simply went back to his old job upon being replaced as acting ICE director. He wasn’t fired and in a sense wasn’t demoted since he was only acting and never was going to stay as director more than a few weeks anyway.
