MONTREAL: Five people were killed after gunmen opened fire in a Quebec City mosque during evening prayers, the mosque's president told reporters on Sunday (Jan 29).

Earlier, a witness told Reuters that up to three gunmen fired on about 40 people inside the Quebec City Islamic Cultural Center.

Quebec is not known for its love of those who are not pure laine Quebecois and for its strong sense of nationalism. I am not surprised that Quebec would be the first place in Canada where the local population would turn vigilante against Muslims--if this is what it is.
