Tuesday, Gov. Greg Abbott informed Hernandez in a three-page letter that her ICE policy would betray her oath to residents of Travis County. He also added that failing to remove the policy before it is enacted on Feb. 1 would run the county the risk of losing grant money from the Criminal Justice Division.
Abbott upped the ante Wednesday by telling Fox News Wednesday that he is working with lawmakers to create legislation that would include civil and criminal penalties for public officials wanting to create sanctuary cities.
Hernandez responded Thursday that she would continue on with her policy because it does not go against the state or federal laws.

She must not get paid much... that looks like a Supercuts hair job.
You can tell just by looking that she is a zealot, if not a crazed zealot.
Her husband is a mexican, no idea whether he’s legal. I imagine she is getting instructions directly from the left-mex.
She is foolish and insubordinate to argue this in the “press”. They just want a fight to write about. They never seek resolution. Nor does she. If I were governor, she would be gone.
How does it not go against Federal law?
THESE ARE CRIMINAL ILLEGALS
you can SEE the stupid on some people...
“Hope Abbott find s a way to place her inside a cell in her own county jail.”
That would be beautiful.
To finally enforce laws...would be so wonderful for our lives!
These traitors need to hang, and hang FAST before this nonsense turns into war.
Bloodshed to ensure the people’s laws are being followed is 100% justifiable.
She’s an embarrassment to us good Texas women.
The argument is over. The happening is happening. What this means is that this is a decision that the commissioners’ court had better take up, its over the sheriff’s pay grade. Now, I grant that a sheriff is queen in her county (I just threw up in my mouth a little), but I think the commissioners have ways to reign her in or remove her.
The governor can’t for a sheriff of a county. He can decline to give her money.
“Anytime common sense behaviors are intentionally avoided, someones gettin something on the side.”

I almost moved to Austin once, glad I nixed that one.
She just had a news conference with a handful of Hispanic supporters with signs.
I never heard of this woman til a few days ago. I suspected that, like the lady SS agent who would not protect Trump, she probably had no real street law enforcement experience. So I did a quick search and found links from before the election where she boasts of 34 years of law enforcement experience.
When reading her bio, it appears I was right. I can find nowhere where she indicates actually working the streets in uniform in the patrol division of a department. I could be wrong but I doubt it. If anyone finds any info I missed on this please let me know so I can correct the record.
She is just another leftist politician spewing her nonsense.
Always remember that many elected Sheriffs and appointed Police Chiefs are politicians and don’t necessarily have to have law enforcement experience and training, just a bunch of book learnin’.
She’s an elected official.
Gov. Goodhair Perry could have done something all those years he was governor but didn’t lift a finger. Well, the only time he lifted a finger was to see which way the wind was blowing. All he had to do was literally look out his office window to see East Austin (illegal-ville).
Egad. It's the Berkeley of the South.
Lived there for 10 years. Lovely town. Like California in a way. Too damned pretty to be ceded to the leftists, ever, no matter how many of them are infesting it now.
