what does that have to do with anything- a parent is a guardian- whether the child is still with the mother or not- You seem obsessed with the fact that Drew isn’t the biological father- Which has absolutely nothing to do with the article=- so not even sure why the obsession over it? Drew is caring for the child in the role of parent and father- a parent is:

Definition of parent

1 b : a person who brings up and cares for another

Parent:

2: a person acting as a father or mother; guardian

Father Definitions:

-——Foster father – child is raised by a man who is not the biological or adoptive father usually as part of a couple.

-——Mother’s partner – assumption that current partner fills father role

-——Social father – where a man takes de facto responsibility for a child,

Drew carey is actively acting as the child’s father- helping to raise him taking on the responsibility- While Drew isn’t the kid’s biological father- He fills both roles of parent and father-

Not even sure what the quibbling about terms is- but legally- parent can and does mean a figure who cares for- even for a short time- in unmarried situations, as you will see at the end here-

Non-Biological Fathers’ Rights

“Courts also take into account the relationship between children and non-biological fathers when it comes to child support cases. If a man has not formally adopted a child but has acted as a parent and financially supported the child in the past, he may be ordered to pay child support in the event that he and the child’s biological mother or legal guardian divorce or separate. “

“In a landmark ruling for non-traditional families in New York, the state’s highest court on Tuesday held a person need not have a biological or adoptive relationship with a child to be considered a parent.

The second case involved an unmarried same-sex couple who had a child before splitting up. The biological mother sought child support from her former partner. The court granted her request but also allowed a visitation petition by the child’s non-biological mother, ruling it would be inconsistent to consider the latter a parent only for purposes of paying support.”

Note the lesbians were not married- the one woman was the biological mother artificially inseminated of course- the courts ruled the non biological woman was still the child’s parent even though the two women had never been married-
