I thought the plagiarism claims were way overstated, but the point is that they even bothered to look for something to trip her up. I mean, when Obama appointed someone to a position, I would want general background on the person, but I wouldn't go poring through everything they'd ever written looking for signs of plagiarism.

They were already in the news about her. Came up on an easy google. Then they found more. The combination of finding it both in her doctoral thesis and in her latest book was a killer.
