Death penalty time for the assassins.
Draconian.
The Sixth Amendment clearly deals with this 1
For purposes of this discussion, it is as assumed that Citizens, with the right to vote, are adults, reasonably educated, capable of understanding cause and effect, and with a rudiment grasp of history, and not physically and/or handicapped with serious inability to read and write, and a grasp of the definition of Draconian. And a speedy trial, with limited period of appeal.
The ignorant, the violently bent, and the mentally and psychologically handicapped have been allowed to set the irrational interpretation of our Constitution FOR MUCH TOO LONG. Time to bring that to a screeching halt.
The Constitution consists of two parts; most of it limits the power of government, without reservation, and limited to the enumerated powers, and no further. Ordinary legislation cannot modify the Constitution. If such were the intent, the Amendment process would not exist.
The second part, the Bill of Rights, protects absolutely the Rights of the Individual, AND similarly not subject to modification by legislation, defines, the rights of individual citizens, DOES NOT CREATE THEM, AND IS NOT SUBJECT TO MODIFICATION, BY ANY MEANS.
What is forgotten by the ignorant, the violent, the thoughtless, the mentally impaired, is that individual rights cannot exist without the total mental and psychological health of the citizens, and the unspoken* obligations of citizenship and the Social Contract. Further, The rational common sense of the Founders relied on truths as real today as they were at the time of the creation of the Republic:
* 1. No effective national government can exist run entirely by children. Q.E.D.
2. No effective national government can exist (nor has ever existed in recorded history) run by the insane. Q.E.D.
3. No effective national government can exist which allows the uneducated to qualify to serve, or to vote. Nor Non useful contributors to society be allowed to vote on spending issues.
4. No effective permanent national government can exist without borders, or permitting non citizens to vote.
5. In the modern era, elected legislators should be prohibited to qualify to serve without passing a mandatory rigorous test on the Constitution, the Bill of Rights and an elementary knowledge of economics. This would eliminate a significant number of existing members of both the House and the Senate.
6. Absolute term limits at the Federal Level must be adopted. Abuse of Constitutional powers are punishable by serious term in prison, and permanent disqualification for future elected or appointed office. (at the time of the National Creation the universal punishment for treason was immediate death, no appeal.)
