I am a naturalized citizen since June 12, 1977, and before getting my citizenship it never entered my mind to vote in any election.

My wife entered illegally and is now a naturalized citizen.

The vast majority of non-citizens never think of registering or voting illegally. But two things are happening:
1) Anti-illegal voices make a big deal about vote fraud by illegals in a way that leaves a natural inference that those with a green card can vote. The focus on illegals blurs the distinction between green card and citizen.

2) Both Motor Voter and ACORN style voter registration register non-citizens through no fault of the non-citizen. Usually with no awareness of the non-citizen.

These names on the voter roll are now ripe for the professional vote harvestor to milk with both absentee, early voting and election day voting impersonation. It is just another form of identity theft.

This identity theft voting makes a big difference in low turnout primaries and off-year elections. It makes less difference in Presidential General Elections. The Chicago Aldermanic fight between Jesse Jackson’s Push and Obama’s mentors is the most fraudulent election I’m aware of as both sides committed much vote fraud. And much of that vote fraud was identity theft. Of course, much of it was also the same person registered and voting from multiple addresses, as is common in Chicago.
