It is my understand that a lot of foreign countries (especially those we would be importing pilots from) work strictly on a “who you know” not “what you know” when it comes to who gets trained as a pilot.

When a bunch of Koreans, my father is Korean, screwed up a landing in SFO because they had no clue how to land a plane without fancy technology no thanks to foreign pilots except for perhaps Western Europeans.
