We homeschooled our 8 before it was cool - ‘82 - ‘07. ALL considered by outside world to be unusually mature in every way - including socially.

5 of them have 8 degrees total, 2 are Phi Beta Kappa, 1 Summa Cum Laude with 4 simultaneous degrees (Computer Science, Math, Physics, Greek), 1 - “with distinction”, 2 - engineers. All 8 very successful in their careers - 3 didn’t want college, one a realtor who makes big bucks.

All the grace of God. Wife & I both former public school teachers, all kids educated from a strong Christian world-view, all serious Christians.....again, by God’s grace. Wife & I are good friends with all, and our country home is still the central hub of activity for the whole family - and extended family of multiple cultures and races.

God is good.

My sons were homeschooled from 2nd grade through 12th grade. They were performing at college graduate levels by 7th grade. Both were early decision admissions to William and Mary. The oldest graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa and was awarded a PhD in Economics from the University of Virginia. The youngest (our family’s “party animal”) was a cum laude English major with an MBA in finance and a decorated combat Marine and is now a real estate developer and model dad.

Our family was happy with homeschool.

My goodness, Arlis. Such a good outcome for your family, and so smart too. Congratulations.

Of course, I am recalling that the more educated voters voted for Hillary Clinton. I guess you are what is called a troglodyte? / lol!

My family was all well educated too and we went to Catholic schools - but you know after hearing the words intolerant, racist, homophobic and Islamophobic thrown at believers in Christianity, even the well-educated are willing to vote against the secular order.

Wow....in some ways...similar - but not the quantity!

We homeschooled our 3 from ‘90 to ‘07. Each was homeschooled through 10th grade - then on to a junior college for “running start” - taking college level classes for high school and college credit.

The first finished H.S. - then joined Army Reserves- trained as Combat medic, returned home, got her A.S. degree - then on to Seattle Univ. for her BS RN - and a Army Nurse (reserve) commission. Became an ICU nurse (like her Mom.)

The second went to the Naval Academy, graduated with honors, went to Navy Post Grad school for his M.S. - again graduated with honors....then to Nuc Power School...and has served in the submarine force for about 8 years - and is the Engineering Department Head on a Nuclear Submarine.

The 3rd opted out of college - joined the Army - Infantry, Airborne...did a tour in Iraq, went to Ranger School and got his Ranger Tab....made E-6 within 6 years of enlisting.

All 3 are smart, patriotic, and know God & Christ. We are blessed ....and home schooling was probably a big part of their success - because #2 would have been BORED with the slow pace of public schools, and #3 was so ‘bouncy’ - he would have been called ADHD or ADD...and the schools would have wanted him on drugs. His Mom could send him outside to be ‘physical’ while studying...and that was a BIG help. (He is know working on his college degree and trying to get into the Army Helicopter/Warrant Officer program.)

Home schooling might not be for everyone...but it sure is worth the effort if the parents can put the TIME and EFFORT into it! And the results are very rewarding.
