The Trump administration may no longer enforce a rule requiring individual Americans to carry health insurance or pay a penalty if they do not, a senior White House official said on Sunday
Speaking on ABC's "This Week" program, Kellyanne Conway, counselor to the president, said President Donald Trump "may stop enforcing the individual mandate."
Separately, on CBS' "Face the Nation" show, she reiterated Republican promises that no one would lose their health insurance under Obamacare while a replacement is being developed.

Thank you President Trump.
I was not buying health insurance for lat 2 years.
Now I don’t have to worry about IRS penalty.
Well, the government could give doctors and hospitals the same deal it reserves for itself with students, ...irresponsible patients could be denied medical debt be dischargeable in bankruptcy.
How do you fix the free rider problem of individuals who choose not to carry insurance but still expect world class Medical Care when they are sick or injured?
1. If your income is low, and it would be if you can’t work, there’s Medicaid.
2. If you have enough assets, divest them.
3. If you have gone through your assets, then bankruptcy. Then you qualify for #1.
Any problem with that?
Well, I think there is some degree of consensus that absent an individual mandate, there needs to be some reform with respect to catastrophic care being provided for “free” to the uninsured . The status quo results in artificially High medical care costs due to hospitals and providers passing along the cost of taking care of the uninsured onto the rest of us with insurance.
98% of the uninsured are in category number three. The cost of their unreimbursed care and subsequent bankruptcy increases medical costs for the rest of us.
This idea could work you are responsible for this type of debt no getting out of it!!! The maximum that can be garnished is 25% of someone’s pay!!! For medical they could drop it to like 15%, being irresponsible should NOT get you out of the debt!!!! When you are able to purchase insurance for such things you need to purchase it!!! The American taxpayer should NOT be held responsible!!!!
Agreed.
So you want to get rid of Medicaid?
