The structure in question is popularly termed a podium, rightly or wrongly. It appears that your mission in life is to track down and correct this grievous misuse of Latin by English speakers. Good luck to that end. Maybe you’ll eventually find yourself mounting a podium and lecturing from a lectern regarding this earth-shattering offense.
Or, maybe not.
Whatever.
Yes, and certain segments of the population "popularly" tend to "AXE" questions and "popularly" ignore the "facks". Yet others "popularly" go to outrageous measures to root for their team at "Noder-daim"...an obviously devout French-Catholic University.
rightly or wrongly.
Ain't it!
Then there are: one, won, two, to, too, for, four, fore, eight, ate, their, they're, there, are, our, hour....ALL "popularly" misapplied.
I could go on and on and on...
AND I MIGHT!!!
(I suppose you could put you feet up on it)
