The normally sedate Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor & Pensions became the scene of a Fourth of July display when Sen. Elizabeth Warren led her fellow party members in demanding a second round of questioning of Betsy DeVos, President-elect Donald Trumps choice as secretary of education.
(Watch video at link)
The Massachusetts Democrat asked committee Chairman Sen. Lamar Alexander for a second day of hearings, and told him that if hearings were to be extended for an additional day, she would have many, many more questions to ask of DeVos.
The Tennessee Republican observed that precedent didnt call for a second round of questioning. When President Obamas two nominees for education secretary were being considered by the committee, there was only one round of questioning by committee members.
He added that although many Republican committee members werent happy with the single round of questioning, out of deference to the president and the institution, we thought that it would be appropriate for us to defer to the president.
He added that DeVos had already spent 50 percent more time under committee questioning than either of Obamas picks.
Alexanders answer clearly stuck in Warrens craw.
Throughout Alexanders patient explanation Warrens posturing and fidgeting displayed discontent. Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee loved the turnabout, as did his followers.
(See Huckabee's comments and others at link)
DeVos has indicated throughout her life that she placed students above teacher unions when it comes to education. She is pro-school choice, anti-Common Core and anti-union, and thats what really sticks in the craw of the Democrats
“Alexanders answer clearly stuck in Warrens craw.”
FOTGLOL!!!
FINALLY .. somebody had the GUTS to put her in her place. I’m sick and tired of these Dems who think they are still in charge of running things.
Congrats REPUBS .. how does it feel to really do YOUR JOB.
People criticize Trump for being too quick to tweet. But that fight-back instinct of his is the source of whatever bit of backbone is starting to appear in the congressional republicans.
Mark for later
I’m pleasantly surprised that a squish like Lamar Alexander could pull this off.
Because we finally have a LEADER of our side.
Well,not really....
Especially in the case of Lamar Alexander, a classic example of a country club Republican.

And she has her “evil twin sister” from Missouri, Claire McCaskill. Ole Claire has the same worthless Marxist POS attitude and demeanor.
She is lost in Left field living in a different world. She hates most of the country.
I kinda like the way he shamed her reasoning in front of her peers. How's that feel? Welcome to your new reality as the minority. Get used to it.
I totally agree .. some of our congress people are really beginning to get the picture.
I’m very happy to see this. Ms. Warren needed to be shown that she does not run the show anymore .. and I hope any of the other Committee’s who have to deal with Ms. Warren’s ugly attitude need to treat her the same way.
Hillary, s beeeat $#
Haha, twin sister, that’s funny.
Claire is one seriously evil vile woman.
She also has that whiny voice. She’s a disgrace.
She was fixin to get ready to start some scalping.
Best yet is he did his homework....had all the stats ready about Obama’s appointee hearings. You could tell that really cheesed her off royally!

Why are the Democrat women such shrewish, hatchet-faced crones? When they ask questions of nominees the queries are so long, nonsensical and unintelligible.
“What does it tell you about the people of Massachusetts that they would elect her?”
Only that the state is overrun with so-called intellectuals who control the means of indoctrination, i.e. the schools and news media. Too many snooty university professors. I feel sorry for those who are not liberals in Massachusetts.
By-the-way, I live in Minnesota and know just how they feel.
