I carried an M9 for 4 years. Two out of four years, the gun malfunctioned (as in needing to go back to the armory before it could fire again) in the middle of pistol quals. Didn’t leave me feeling good about carrying it in combat.

It did shoot straight when it worked.

I didn't have any issues with the M9, but I only had to qual with it once
before I got out...the M1911 that I had drawn from the armory probably
landed at Iwo...needless to say it was well used. The issue would have
been moot if the Corps had picked the Sig in the first place.
