I had a 226 for years. Ran thousands of rounds through it without issue. Lack of safety was a major selling point to me at the time. If I pull the trigger, I want the gun to fire.
I’ll always take a 1911 in .45 over a 9mm toy (.38) You don’t need 18 shot if the first one does the job.
As we all know, the main safety is knowing your weapon and training and especially awareness of your trigger finger placement. That said, I am glad my 870 has a push button safety since probably would be used in the dark of night for home defense. I've been to the local range to practice for more training and have practice loading with eyes closed. I have a sleeve on the buttstock with the buck rounds and a bright light on the barrell. Yes, I've heard your self-defense weapons should always be loaded. We have a self-defense protocol in case of home invasion. If you'd like to hear, be happy to explain.
