Conor,I know you're an old Navy Corpseman (sorry.couldn't help myself) but this jpg makes me wonder if you've ever seen Old Ironsides.I've lived my entire (long) life (except Army time) within a 15 miles radius of Charlestown and I only just visited it for the first time last year.Very impressive...probably even more so to a sailor!

If by chance you haven't set aside a couple of hours next time you're in Boston to see it.It's easy to get to via public transit. There's a regular commuter ferry that takes you within a 5 minute walk of it.

I was in Boston in the early 60's and toured Old Ironsides. It has been through more than one restoration since then. I daresay its condition is much closer to the that of the Constitution that defeated HMS Guerriere in 1812.

"I am an American fighting man. I serve in the forces guarding our country and our way of life.
I am prepared to give my life in their defense."
