In the days leading up to the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump on Jan. 20, New York City has been a hotbed of non-violent protest against the soon-to-be 45th U.S. president.
On Saturday, documentary filmmaker Michael Moore announced he's teamed up with actors Alec Baldwin and Mark Ruffalo to lead a star-studded demonstration Thursday evening outside the Trump International Hotel near Columbus Circle. Writers like Michael Cunningham and Eve Ensler gathered on the steps of the New York Public Library Sunday afternoon to defend freedom of expression under the incoming Trump administration. And at least five local congressional representatives have decided to boycott the swearing-in on Capitol Hill.
However that political action didn't spook Michigan brothers Rob and Mike Cortis, who drove a float they built and dedicated to the president elect through Manhattan Monday evening.
The Cortis men built their "Presidential Trump Unity Bridge & Trump Mobile" after the final presidential debate in October, Rob wrote on a GoFundMe page raising funds to finance its pre-inauguration tour.
"With all the division this political season, we felt it was important to bring to the forefront issues that unite all Americans together," he explained. "The Trump Unity Bridge is indeed doing that bridging the gap on issues that will unite all Americans together as one under a Donald Trump Presidency."
The red-white-and-blue 30-foot float features a small-scale Statue of Liberty replica and signs bearing such slogans as "1 Flag, 1 Nation, 1 God," and "Secure America's Borders."
The feast for the eyes also blares patriotic music.
Didn’t the cops pull them over?
Awesome awesome and awesome. As someone who grew up in New York city it’s good to see it hasn’t been completely poisoned by the left, that sane people still exist.
This is a friend of mine from the Brighton, Michigan area. He wants to get it into the parade. He parked it all over during the election. His brother bought an old RV and did the same.
Are you kidding? That whole city is made up of wackos who hate cops. That guy with that float is probably the best thing the cops seen all year. I grew up in NYC and moved out 5 years ago. It is SO leftist there now you can’t believe it. It’s completely overrun by psychopaths. You know those two guys who yelled at Ivanka on that plane? Those are your average NYC residents. Actually I should say Manhattan residents because the outer boroughs like Queens and the Bronx are still cool. Brooklyn as well, at least east Brooklyn, but Manhattan is a freakin’ nightmare. Let me put it this way: If you are a guy and you are heterosexual in Manhattan, that is considered offensive to the leftists there.
“. As someone who grew up in New York city its good to see it hasnt been completely poisoned by the left,”
Built by two brothers from ..... MICHIGAN!
I understand.....just asking about what I witnessed on the LiveLeak vid of it. Hopefully NYPD stopped him to shake his hand!

My son spent 9 of his NYPD years Midtown.
People would throw insults-———just because.
.
I love the float but it is hand-made and looks more like a high-school homecoming float.
Glitzy - those cranks just couldn't help themselves from taking a shot.
My father is a retired NYPD Sgt, retired in 1980, still alive and he says you couldn’t pay him enough to want to be a cop today. A friend of mine who is now a Secret service agent quit the NYPD after only two years because he was told by his Sgt to stand while people spit on him during a parade in Harlem, and he’s a combat vet with a Purple heart from Desert storm. And you know where that Sargent got that order? From the lowlife leftist shtbags running that city. He said they were spitting in his face and he had to stand there and do nothing, and that was back in 2002. Now it’s even worse. Now they have a Mayor who encourages thugs to kill cops as they sit in their patrol cars. Remember that whole thing with Patrick Lynch in 2014 telling DeBlasio that DeBlasio just put a target on the head of cops? And he was absolutely right because a week later this happened.....

My son is also a retired NYPD Sgt-——now living and working in another state.
.
I thank him for his service and also thank God he is retired because the NYPD of today is nothing but a punching bag for the left
