Trumps inauguration is getting a dose of soul, with Soul Man singer Sam Moore joining the lineup of performers just days after Jennifer Holliday pulled out.
Moore, one half of the R&B duo Sam & Dave, announced Tuesday hell be appearing at the Make America Great Again! Welcome Celebration in Washington on the eve of the Jan. 20 inauguration.
"As an American, I am honored to perform for President-elect Donald Trump," Moore said in a statement. "I was a participant in the civil rights movement and have seen many positive changes and advancement in my 81 years of living in this wonderful country, but I know we must all join hands and work together with our new president, the Grammy Hall of Famer and Hold On, Im Comin singer said.
I honestly believe that if we can accomplish this, the best is yet to come. We all as Americans need to unite behind our new president and give him a chance. He needs everyones support to make America greater, stronger and an even better country, 81-year-old Moore said. The addition of Moore whos performed multiple times for President Obama at the White House comes just days after Broadway veteran Holliday suddenly cancelled an already-announced performance at the inaugural festivities, saying she desired to stand with the LGBT community.
See what he brings to the table, Moore said of Trump, during a chat with ITK last month.
It is what it is whether you agree or not, hes there.
He didnt put himself [in the White House], Moore exclaimed, the American people did.
When ITK inquired at the time whether hed be willing to perform at the inauguration, Moore replied with a wide grin, If they asked me to, I would yeah!
